MATHWIG ESTATE BARN WEDDING | THURMONT, MARYLAND | PART ONE
This wedding was so gorgeous and filled with so many amazing details, that one blog post simply isn’t enough! Here’s part one of Tara & Wade’s wedding celebration!
Tara’s hair and makeup was stunning by Jordan K Winn & Co! The team really pampered Tara and her bridesmaids!
Rose gold pumps + garden roses… be still my heart!
These custom shoe decals are such a sentimental touch! Found on Etsy for just a few dollars.
Brides to be, please don’t be scared of lashes and blush! They’re wedding day must haves, and still look natural when professionally done!
Personalized wedding dress hangers make a big impact in detail photos – and are a sweet keepsake! This gold painted hanger is incredible!
Bridesmaids robes! The perfect bridesmaids gift. And a great way to make your girls look and feel extra special the morning of the wedding!
Maid of Honor moment – how precious!
“Something Borrowed” – her mother’s vintage beaded clutch.
Have you ever seen such a glamorous garter? Ostrich feathers are a delicate and whimsical touch!
Although the log cabin was lovely inside, I asked the bride to have dressing photos outside on the covered porch. I’m sure it sounded like a strange request at the time, but Tara was awesome to trust me on this one. First of all, it’s not a particularly comfortable thing to have cameras around when you’re in lingerie trying to put on a huge dress – so regardless of where a bride is getting dressed, I like to give her some privacy until the dress zipped/buttoned decently enough up her back. So while Tara was getting into her dress, I brought an antique mirror outside, and then lined up her accessories on a bench for easy access. She simply resumed putting on her dress outside… in beautiful light! There were 3 cameras (including a videographer) so the outdoor space gave us a chance to step back and let Tara and her mother enjoy the moment!
As she bent down to put on the long cathedral veil, I started tearing up a little. It was the same veil Tara’s mother wore on her wedding day! “Something Old” with lace applique looked brand new because they put a lot of time into restoring the color to match Tara’s dress.
In his loving memory, the bride’s Grandfather’s blue work shirt was sewn into her wedding dress. She embroidered the quote “Best wedding I’ve been to today” – and told me that was just the kind of thing he would say!
Here you can really see how the mint and peach wedding colors come together!
Although it was about 45 minutes from the reception venue, Trinity Lutheran Church is dear to Tara and her family, as it was the church her grandparents attended. It was well worth the drive to get married in such a spectacular church!
Wade loves fishing, so this cufflink and tie clip set couldn’t have been more perfect! I love when grooms have fun with their style!
The “First Touch” was a wonderful moment for Tara and Wade to spend a minute together before the ceremony (but keep things traditional with the groom not seeing the bride). Hugs and kisses, and lots of laughs. “That’s the bandana you chose?” Tara jokingly asked. I think that calmed their nerves to have time alone together before everything began!
Closer to the ceremony, they exchanged gifts. Tara couldn’t wait to see what it was, so she went for the jewelry box before reading the card (and laughed about it later when she realized that!) Wade gave her a stunning gold monogram necklace!
Special delivery for the groom! Tara gave Wade this unique barrel wall art from Flying Dog Brewery, a local favorite!
The processional including their dog, Cha-Cha as the flower girl! With a floral collar and tutu!
There were definitely “Happy Tears!”
YAY! Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Butler!!
During the recessional, we grabbed a few Bride&Groom Portraits outside the church. Then, they headed off to the reception in their “Just Married” truck, which was decked out in a wedding decal and trailing cans!
With a longer Cocktail Hour, the couple had time to mingle with guests AND have formal portraits!
Part Two of this incredible wedding is coming soon! The celebration is just getting started!!
